When I heard my next job would involve me moving to Houston, one of the 
first things I thought was “I must track down Mary”. Having trained with
 Mary for a year in 2007, it was great to find her again in 2013 . Aside 
from being a convenient location for me, now working from her home gives
 Mary total control of the learning environment and she applies thorough 
attention to those details as she does to my form! 

The one to one instruction and Mary’s knowledge and experience maximizes 
the benefits I get from each hour session and she creates a program that 
is right for me - as a long time middle aged runner with more enthusiasm 
than sense, she has made a major contribution to me staying largely 
injury free thanks to both her Pilates and running knowledge. 

If you’re looking for an easy, low effort hour, go somewhere else. On 
the other hand, if you want a teacher who knows just when to push and
 when to back off - and to know you’ve really earned that very rare (in

My Pilates journey with Mary began before I was pregnant with my second child. When I found out that I was pregnant with Rachel, I did not hesitate to continue my workouts with Mary. I knew I was in very capable hands. She is extremely meticulous in her guidance of each Pilates move and is in-tune with my needs as they vary each visit. As my pregnancy progressed, my Pilates sessions evolved to safely challenge me and always left me feeling refreshed. I truly believe that the focus and strength I gained during Pilates allowed me to have an unmedicated birth of my daughter.

I looked forward to returning to my Pilates sessions once cleared by my doctor postpartum. I was astonished how I struggled to even go from laying to sitting up. Mary appropriately challenged me to quickly build my strength back up.

I have had experience with several Pilates instructors over several years. Mary is the only one that I truly trusted to continue with during my pregnancy and postpartum. Mary is laser focused at making sure each move is performed perfectly and that her pregnant and post partum clients are safely challenged each visit.

I had been doing Pilates on and off for a few years, and was having a hard time finding someone in Houston that focused on classical Pilates. I have multiple sclerosis, so I have found that classic Pilates does best for my body. There is much more of a focus on balance, core, and learning how to strengthen your body evenly, versus letting one side become dominant. Then at the beginning of 2011, I found out I was pregnant, which meant I would need to take extra care of my body - I wasn't sure I would find anyone up to the task...But then, I found Mary! She was great, not only modifying the workouts to accommodate my MS, but my pregnancy. Most importantly, I still felt like the workouts were still a challenge! I gained lots of upper body and leg strength. I was able to continue to work out with Mary up to the day before I had my son. I had a super easy delivery, and quick recovery afterwards, and I feel that had a lot to do with my Pilates training with Mary. Highly recommend for anyone expecting. Thank you Mary!

I was having back problems for a couple of months when I went to Mary for help, since I would be soon taking an extended trip overseas and would not be near a doctor. After a brief evaluation, she gave me a regimen of strength and stretching exercises that I could do simply and easily (which was good, since we sometimes slept on cots after being on our feet all day) and I not only had less back pain, but increased stamina by the end of 4 weeks! Mary first trained me on the TRX system about a year ago, leading me through the basic exercises and options. I travel extensively and have been using the TRX regularly. I recently asked Mary to take me through the TRX again and provide some pointers. I had no idea until Mary corrected form, stance and positioning how much I had been cheating; talk about kicking your workout to the next level! With her knowledge of Pilates, physiology, athletic background and experience working with a variety of clients Mary has been able to design a TRX exercise routine that works for me but more importantly instructed me in the proper way of completing each exercise for maximum benefit and the least possibility of injury.

I've been working with Mary for over two years, and in that time she has coached me into becoming a much more centered person with a much stronger core. As a golfer, my core strength is key to maintaining a repeatable swing over 18 holes. When I first started seeing Mary, I had regular stiffness in my back and infrequently finished my golf rounds with any consistency. I no longer have any back pain, my body feels more connected, and, most importantly, I perform better and more efficiently in everything I do, whether it be golf, basketball, yard work or even carrying the groceries up the stairs. When I came to Mary a little more than a year ago, I was a mess of a body. I was recovering from multiple surgeries, having a baby and had just finished a very tough treatment regimen for cancer. I was determined to regain some of the balance, strength and coordination I had lost as well as lose some of the weight I had gained during the pregnancy and cancer treatment. I also wanted to find me again. I quickly realized that my enthusiasm and goals did not match the capabilities of my body. But Mary supported me in every way, while working with "the body I brought her." Her encouragement won over my discouragement and kept me going. Depending on my physical shape and abilities, Mary creatively customizes each of our sessions to my needs and capabilities. And I'm always challenged with new moves and some of my favorites as well. I feel like I'm Mary's only client because her personal touch is weaved throughout my workouts. I found the Pink Ribbon Program at a time when I was mentally tapped out, physically drained, in constant pain and discomfort, and didn't know what to do now that I had beaten breast cancer. I had been given a second chance at life, but didn't know how to start living it. My mind had stayed strong throughout the battle, but my physical weakness had finally gotten to me. Mary was there to encourage me, be patient with me, and give me realistic expectations. The program allowed me to feel like I was finally able to take charge of my life and affect how I would feel going forward. Cancer takes that control from you for a while. Within a few weeks, my strength was coming back, the nagging pain was greatly reduced, my flexibility and movement were not so limited, and most of all, my mental outlook was vastly improved. Now, as a Pink Ribbon Program graduate, I continue to use Pilates to strengthen my mind and body and rejuvenate my soul. I have a long way to go, but am so grateful to have found this program. Mary and the Pink Ribbon Program changed my life.
